Azealia Banks is an Angry Black Woman: Racists Comments and Twitter Beef

I honestly hate using the stereotypical phrase “angry black woman”  but, this was the only way I could describe the actions of Azealia Banks this morning. For those of you who don’t know who Azealia Banks is, (which is probably going to be many of you), she’s a talented rapper and songwriter from New York with an unfortunate D-List mentality. Though she has a history of unapologetically speaking her mind and not holding back her opinion, her train wreck of a career is hard to watch. This morning on Twitter, Banks accused past One Directioner, Zayn, of copying her concept in his newly released video, “Like I Would”. Zayn responded by saying, ” No lies…I see you reaching but, I don’t care…my @s too good for you”.  At this point, Banks loses her shit.

She proceeds with saying,  “dude, I make better music than you simmer down with that fake white boy rebellion and that wannabe Bieber swag. LOL u a bitch n**ga for even responding like this”. As if that’s not enough, she continues on by making racist comments about Zayn’s Pakistani roots, ” Imma start calling you punjab you dirty bitch…You a dick rider for real. Ride this dick until the wheels fall off Punjab”.  Zayn is probably looking at his phone and my baby Gigi Hadid, like what the hell?

He responds to Banks and says, “Why you been saying nasty things about me? I wasn’t talking about you lol”. Her response, ” Do you understand that you are a sand n**ga who emulates white boys renditions of black male hood? Do you know how lost and culture less you are”. Sidenote: What does Banks think she is doing for the culture?

To make matters worse, Banks get’s called out on Twitter by 14 year old Disney Channel Star, Skai Jackson. Skai Jackson tweets that Banks should “simmer down”, and in return Banks says, “and you need to grow some hips and start ur menses. stay in a child’s place”. She went further on to go back an forth with Skai on how she will not have a career after the Disney Channel and I have to say, Skai handled her own. How the hell do you get dragged by a 14 year old on social media? How?

Banks has spoken publically about African American Civil Right issues and has encouraged young African Americans to take an interest in such issues. The way Banks acted on social media is exactly how society sees black women to begin with; angry and aggressive  for no apparent reason. I always did believe that Banks lyrically had talent, however, her dumb decisions to consistently make a fool of herself on social media will keep here stagnant in her career. She has said in interviews that when in comes to politics and the music industry, society doesn’t see black people as important. In return, she conducts herself in a manner that takes away from ever being one of the great ones. Do you think people are really going to give a shit now about what you have to say?  I honestly don’t feel that Banks is racist despite her comments, I think she just hates everything about herself. She hates herself so much that she is willing to sabotage the little bit of a career that she has by coming at other people.

She has taken to social media to apologize for her actions after the  outburst this morning, but the damage is already done. Basically now, she wants everyone to feel sorry about her mental health problems and how they contributed to her making an ass out of herself.  There are plenty of African American artists and songwriters that are successful and I think it’s time for the people around Banks to tell her to look in the mirror. She will never live up to her full potential with her piece of shit attitude. I believe some people want to blame everyone else around them for their downfall, without realizing the common factor in their negative life situations are themselves.

Unless Banks is ready to actually be serious about her career and realize how her actions will affect her success, I want her to just disappear into the depths like Charlie Baltimore or something. Remember her? Yea, I kind of don’t either.
