Expensive Products to Replace with Coconut Oil in Your Vanity
Thank the make-up gods for beauty stores such as Sephora and Ulta. If it wasn’t for them, so much of the world would look different. This is usually how I’m feeling until I take my products to the cashier and she serves me one of those pity smiles right before she tells me the total. Well no more heart wrenching “please let my card go through” thoughts because I’ve found the mother of financial solutions. Coconut oil. Here’s five products to replace in your vanity with coconut oil.
- Make-up remover. For me this was one of the most annoying things to spend money on because its one of the most important things to have. The worst thing you can do is not properly remove your makeup. Its very damaging to the skin and can easily cause breakouts. But coconut oil is a even better alternative. Not only does it remove even more makeup than the average makeup remover but its very healthy for the skin as well. Because this natural oil has antibacterial agents its going to improve your skin as well. After rinsing your face with warm water, apply a quarter size amount of coconut oil to the skin and rub in gently. Afterwards take a damp paper towel and remove the rest of your makeup. Your going to love the results just give it a try.
- Deep Conditioner. How were you supposed to know that same oil you cook with from time to time can give you long lustrous locks as well? Well it can when used as a deep conditioner. Coconut oil is very hydrating for the hair because it actually penetrates the hair follicles and traps protein. After rinsing your hair apply a small amount of coconut oil to your hair and massage thoroughly. You can leave it in until your next wash or rinse out after 5-10 minutes. Either way, your hair is going to feel soft and look much healthier with a little bit of shine.
- Body Scrub. Everyones that’s ever had a body scrub knows they don’t come too cheap even the store bought ones are saved for occasions but with coconut oil you can body scrub all day every day. It takes a little more preparation than just digging into the jar of oil but mixing 1 part coconut oil with 2 parts brown sugar or salt makes for a very high quality scrub. This can even be used on the lips as well. It’ll leave your skin feeling very soft, moisturized and smooth. Best part is you probably already have these ingredients on hand so get to mixing.
- Makeup Highlighter. Every makeup wearer knows how much a good quality highlighter can cost and if you’re anything like myself, spending $40 to have shiny cheekbones gets old real quick. Good thing coconut oil is here to save the day. Notice a trend yet? Dab a small amount of coconut oil onto the areas you want to glow and your last job is to slay.
