It’s the first week of October, which means Thanksgiving and Christmas are literally right around the corner. If you’re like me, this has been the best – worst year ever, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the bullshit that sometimes comes with the blessings. For other’s , you may feel that you have failed at achieving your goals for 2016 and are just completely convinced that you will start things over on New Years. What ever the case may be, we are here to tell you that 2016 is not over and there is still plenty of time to pull it together. Here are 5 Ways to Make the Rest of 2016 Your Bitch:
Toxic People Detox
If you haven’t already, now is the perfect time to end all of those toxic relationships that have made your life stressful throughout the year. If your boyfriend or girlfriend has been acting up all year, 9 times out of 10 they aren’t going to get it right when the New Year hits. Eliminate all the leeches and undercover haters from your life. A lot of times, people know beforehand who is a big cloud of negativity in their world but, they continue to ignore the signs and hope that they will change. The reality is that the people who consistently lie to you are sometimes the same ones that you love the most. Though getting rid of certain people from your life is not always the easiest thing to do, neither is carrying old baggage into the following year-……plus who wants to buy that person a Christmas gift anyways. If the person that is stressing you out is a parent, work on telling them less about your plans and dreams if you know they are only going to spew negativity. Sometimes we have to love people in our family from a distance and minimize our contact with them for our own sanity.
Live Life for YOU
Maybe you allowed yourself to get all the way to October without taking the time to do what you really wanted all year with your life. Whether it be starting a new business, taking a vacation, leaving your 9-5 job, starting school…etc it is never too late to get on track. Life continues to go on, and it is important that you put a game plan in motion in order to start seeing results. Start plotting for your future and stop making excuses of why you can’t start today. People do so much talking about what they want to do with their life, but never get to their destination because there is no action behind it. If you really are serous about losing weight, then don’t wait until the New Year to quote the “new year new me” bull shit. You don’t need a gym membership you just need to have the desire. If you can afford to eat fast food everyday, then you can afford to identify healthier options and exercise throughout the week. Water is also super FREE in case some of you forgot. Start plotting on your come up so that next year you aren’t in the same position.
Stop Spending Money on Unnecessary Items
This may be tricky for some but, many people spend money on unnecessary things throughout the week. For me, I use to spend an embarrassing amount of money on Starbucks, Chipotle burrito bowls and manicures every week. For those of you who are probably judging me, think about some of the things that you could save your money on. All the money that you unnecessarily spend could be put back into your business, your savings or for a meaningful experience. Take this time to reevaluate where your money is going so you will be able to treat yourself around Christmas time and possibly even have a jump start on your savings to begin 2017.
Make at Least One Significant Connection
No matter what it is you are trying to do in your life, it is important to look at your circle and see if everyone is contributing to your overall growth. Whether you are trying to get into the entertainment industry or the field that you went to college for it is important to make the necessary connections. Utilize your social media accounts, the beloved internet or even attend events that are tailored to your career interests. Leveling up in your career relies a lot on who you know. Make it a part of your daily routine to explore how you can create a solid network of individuals that have a positive affect on your development.
We try to at least take one big vacation every year. A vacation gives you the opportunity to leave your everyday environment, which is always good for the soul. Use your resources to identify various travel groups if you are afraid to travel alone. Even if your vacation is a couple hours away, take that time to distance yourself from your everyday life. If money is an issue, there are plenty of discount alternatives like Groupon and Jetblue Airlines that you can utilize to book flights and hotel stays. It just takes a little bit more energy and research. Life is too short to not make time to see the world. With the holidays coming up, if you have family members that live in another area take advantage of visiting them and knowing that you will probably get free room and board. This will free up your money to explore an area that you may not be familiar with. Take a chance and live a little.
